It has been one year since the flood and our restoration. Come help us celebrate!

We’ll hear a brief annual report and elect officers, then join in a

POT LUCK DINNER,  with  MUSIC, POETRY, and CO-OP FRIENDSHIP. 

 

PORT WASHINGTON KAYAKING CLUB 

All experienced, beginner, or would-be kayakers, join us for this popular new sport. Being a strong swimmer is not necessary, but instruction is essential for safety &efficiency. Simple to learn at any age! Discount lessons & gear for Co-op members. Meeting with instructors, film, discussions, & refreshments. Call Co-op for information.

 

Regular Meetings resume February,  Tuesdays, 7:30–9 p.m., Mertz Community Center.

 

Lessons in the Tully Pool 7:00-9:30 p.m.

Donations by APPOINTMENT only.  Furniture welcome (no bed mattresses, please).

Clothing items:  only spring/summer, please.

Special thanks to Mrs. Migatz & the Schreiber High School Key Club; to Michele Welden & the Schreiber Natural Helpers, and to Megan Duffy & the Weber Middle School Human Relations Club, who made Thanksgiving so much better for the clients of our Food Pantry. Thanks again to all individuals who have supported our Work Experience&  Food Pantry Programs,  and  given donations to the Thrift Shop.

We feed & train over 3000 people annually.

We purchase & deliver food seven days a week,

for daycare centers, outreach programs, religious organizations, senior & homebound,

and our thrift shop’s proceeds support these programs as well.

 

CO-OP SERVICES AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

1. Weekly Outreach: Thanks for donations: Long Island Harvest for foodstuffs.

2.  Work Experience: Thanks to volunteers for teaching trainees.

3. Catalogue Orders: Remember, prepaid purchases get the deepest discount (at least 10%), and special orders are always welcome. Check the Co-op & Kayak catalogues for groceries, health food, organic produce, and other items. Purchases can go beyond store inventory: you can order anything in the catalogues, either in bulk or as individual items.  Currently, more than half our sales are wholesale. A deposit on orders is requested.  Also, please suggest items you’d like to see us stock. Catalogues, Kayak Club membership materials, free magazines, and a clipboard for your ideas and orders is on the new Front Desk to the left of the entrance.

4. Consumer Education Booth. Check out our free literature, catalogues, and new product testing.

We have many samples for taste-testing: evaluators welcome! Come use our member lending library, now located beside the Front Desk.

ALL NON-MEMBER SENIORS:  SHOP WEDNESDAY, AND WE WILL WAIVE THE 10% FEE.

JOINING (and rejoining) THE CO-OP

Before joining, guests may shop three times without the nonmember 10% surcharge.

Members receive one hour of volunteer time for each new shopper they introduce to the Co-op.

 If the shopper joins, the member receives an additional hour.

Mertz Community Development Center across from the Town Dock on Main Street.   The CAC Cooperative Association d.b.a. Twin Pines Food Coop was founded and incorporated in 1972 as a not-for-profit. The Port Washington Consumer Association was organized and incorporated in 1979 in the state of New York as a charitable nonprofit 501(c)(3) consumer educational association.

The Kayaking Season is almost here!!  With the fantastic weather of the last few days, it might already be here.  So come to the meeting and get ready for another great season out on the water.

The May meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 16h at 7:30PM
